We won’t usually release back to back videos but here you are … the  video I made while riding the special fundraiser train Tom ran on July  3, 2022.

#29, the Robert C. Gray, pulled the Carson City coach up to the depot  and about 30 people boarded. Most were paying guests at $72 a ticket! It  was worth it.

We first rode to the shop and de-boarded to take a shop tour. Tom talked  to people about the Reno and the parts that are in the yard. We saw the  tender frame and tank.

We then re-boarded and rode to Scales where the fire patrol motorcar  passed us so it could take up the rear. But wait, there’s more!

We continued down the track with the goal of reaching Tunnel 2, for a  photographer’s shoot/runby. A plan had hatched, thanks to Tom and Kevin  Madore, who was pointing out that we were losing light and wouldn’t make  it all the way to Tunnel 2.

We stopped at a suitable spot less than a mile from Tunnel 2, de-boarded  onto a flat spot, and the train continued to back down the tracks.  After going into the distance, the engineer Brian and Fireman Ed blew  the whistle and started toward us.

We got an awesome runby just as the sun was setting behind the mountain,  the light was really amazing!   At that point, everyone had a full ride and we re-boarded, heading back  up to Virginia City.
